All walks going ahead as normal
When we plan our adventure hikes for the following day we use the BBC weather forecast and this temperature guide produced by the wonderful Dr Sophie Bell
Full sun, 'feels like' temperature and humidity are taken into account. Particular care is taken with older dogs, puppies and brachycephalic breeds, who are less able to tolerate the heat. As a general rule, we will not walk dogs when the temperature rises above 22 degrees.
We don't always get it quite right, there have been a couple of occassions this summer where the weather was cooler than forecast but we had already cancelled walks. We are risk-adverse and always err on the side of caution -our number one priority has always been the safety and wellbeing of your dogs.
Thank you all for your continued support and understanding, we really appreciate it. We'd much prefer to be walking, roll on the ber months!
At Burnham-On-Pets, your dog’s health, safety and comfort is our priority. During extreme weather conditions we may need to alter the timings of your walk, or offer visits where we would play with your dog and provide a toilet break, if we felt that it would not be safe to walk them.
In order to keep your dogs healthy and happy, Burnham-On-Pets are unable to walk or visit dogs that are unwell, especially those with symptoms of sickness, diarrhoea or kennel cough. Kennel cough is highly contagious and if your dog has symptoms, please cancel our walk and seek veterinary advice.
